Why is this web site called smileindia?
Because despite the circumstances that some live in,
most Indians especially the young and Little People smile!

This is about our Trip of a Lifetime in April~May 2006

It was our Destiny to experience the wonders of this historic and beautiful country.

For Anne & Les Dymond - who published this site - our visit was the experience of walking in Anne's Father's footsteps who worked in India
in the 1920/30s for over ten years.

Our memorable holiday was wonderfully arranged by Kuoni - who paid such attention to our comfort and enjoyment.

Our Trip was planned with the considerable help, and knowledge
of Peter Giles Director of
World Market Travel to whom we are most grateful.

Our Flights from London Heathrow to Delhi and return from Mumbia were by Virgin Atlantic whose service was absolutely excellent in every dimension. In all of our travels we have never experienced such friendly, courteous and efficient hospitality at Check In, on our flights and at Baggage Reclaim.

Follow the links below for some photos of our visit.

Old Delhi, New Delhi was an amazing introduction to India, the busy traffic, the crowds, the historic buildings and its history left us in awe.

Our journey to Ranthambore was an eye opening experience as we travelled by train
to Jaipur and thence by coach
to The National Park of Ranthambore.

Based here for two nights we were able to make two trips to the Park one in the early morning
and the other in the late afternoon .

This photo is the highlight of this part of our trip
this Tigress who we named Roberta
or Bobbie after our local guide!

The Pink City of Jaipur has so much about it as capital of the State of Rajhastan.

We spent two nights here very necessary
as there is so much to see.

The eighth Wonder of the World was everything we could have imagined and so much more.

The pictures say so much for the love of this man who built in memory of his wife.

To imagine 20,000 men building this masterpiece of workmanship and design in the mid 16th century with only simple tools is just amazing.

Leaving the Oberoi Maidens Hotel we were so lucky to be so close to Mother Theresa's Mission
which we visited and met some of the dear Little People who are being cared for by the Sisters
and their volunteer helpers.

It was also great to see a new school in
construction for these special children who may never know their parents.

As fourteen of our group travelled home to various parts of the UK, Alison & Phil set off to the Maldives to continue their honeymoon,
Helen & Dave returned to Sri Lanka where they were married and Anne & Les flew to Goa.

Here we had a marvellous eleven nights of blissful relaxation in the superb comfort of
the Taj Exotica Hotel on the South Goan Coast.

This is one of the finest hotels in which we have ever stayed in those parts of the world
we have been fortunate to visit.
